Pre-flight checklist
Scope
Equipment, safety, and physical-positioning verification before powering on the GO2W for any operational shift.
Purpose
Catch missing equipment, unsafe positioning, and environmental issues before the robot is powered or moved. No exceptions — every deployment shift. [SOURCE: SOP V3 §III "Start-of-Shift Protocol"]
Required inputs / tools
- Hardware: GO2 robot, spare battery (charged), charging brick, Skild tablet + controller, transport case, microfiber cloth (LiDAR), TSA documents (if applicable to the site).
- Software: Skild tablet app or browser at https://control.skild.ai/robots.
- Documents / channels: site-specific briefing (operating hours, zone, escort requirements); deployment Slack channel.
Procedure
Before powering on
Equipment verification
- GO2 robot with fully charged battery.
- Skild tablet with controller cradle, charged and WiFi-ready.
- Transport case for movement through public areas.
- Microfiber cloth for LiDAR maintenance.
- Spare battery (minimum one, fully charged).
- Charging brick.
- TSA documents (if applicable).

Safety confirmation
- Operating area is clear and authorized for deployment.
- E-Stop location on the robot (red button, rear panel) has been identified.
- Incident report process and emergency contacts are known.
- Environment has been reviewed for changes since last deployment that may require re-mapping.
- Robot remains powered off and cased during transport through public areas unless otherwise authorized.

Hand-off inspection (when retrieving the robot from storage)
- Robot body intact: no damage to panels, sensors, wheels, or handle points.
- All required accessories present.
- No loose parts, exposed wires, or anything dragging.
- If anything looks wrong, STOP. Resolve before continuing. Do not transport a compromised robot.

Pre-power-on physical positioning
Confirm every item before applying power: [SOURCE: SOP V3 §VII "Pre-Power-On Safety"]
- The robot is in a designated, low-traffic area.
- All four limbs are pinched together and uniformly positioned.
- The robot rests on a flat, stable surface.
- No limbs are folded, twisted, or obstructed.
- No external pressure is applied to joints or torso.
- The surrounding area is clear of people and obstacles.
- The LiDAR lens is clean (wipe with microfiber cloth).
Improper positioning is unsafe. The robot must never be powered on while tipped, supported, or in a non-uniform stance.

Operator responsibilities — for the full shift
- A trained operator remains present and attentive while the robot is powered on.
- Operator remains within immediate physical reach of the robot to intervene if conditions become unsafe.
- Any attempt by the public to touch, grab, ride, or obstruct the robot is declined politely but without ambiguity.
- Robot is not manually driven on stairs or escalators unless explicitly directed by an on-site Skild engineer.

Quality checks
- Every item above is checked.
- The cooling fan engages and a green status LED illuminates on the front face after power-on.
[SOURCE: SOP V3 §VIII "Power-On Procedure"] - The Skild tablet/browser reaches the robot with no critical system warnings.
- WiFi connection to the correct GO2 network (e.g.
GO2W-32) is verified before proceeding.[SOURCE: SOP V3 §IX]
Common failure modes
| Issue | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| No green LED after power-on | Battery not seated, or robot booting; or hardware fault | Wait for full boot. If still no green LED, follow /robots/go2/troubleshooting/. |
| Skild Auth screen on tablet with “Authentication failed” | Robot has not finished booting yet | Do not enter a password. Refresh app, wait. Screen clears automatically once robot connects. [SOURCE: SOP V3 §IX "Do Not Enter a Password"] |
| Browser status indicator not green | Wrong robot selected; stale state | Refresh page; log out + back in; confirm correct robot selected from Robots list. [SOURCE: SOP V3 §IX] |
| Dongle not blinking green | Verizon dongle not seated | Remove top case → unplug and replug Verizon dongle until it returns to blinking green. [SOURCE: SOP V3 §XIX Troubleshooting] |
Conflict flags
[RESOLVED 2026-05-18 — C1: Motor auto-sit temperature = 75°C confirmed.]April 2026 GO2 ABM SOP lines 587, 604, 803. The 70°C value fromGO2_General_Operating_Instructions_V3is deprecated.
Escalation
- Damaged or non-conforming robot at pickup → resolve before transport. Notify site coordinator and Skild deployment Slack channel.
- Site escort required but not yet contacted → contact escort via Slack before robot pickup.
